A simple, high-dose carb and sodium drink mix from Open Fuel Co - built around the idea that endurance fuelling should be one scoop, not a stack.
What it is
A high-carbohydrate drink mix delivering 60g of carbohydrate and 500mg of sodium per 67g serving. Open Fuel uses a 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio, which empties the stomach faster than glucose-only formulas and reduces the risk of GI distress during long efforts. The formula is deliberately stripped back - no potassium, magnesium, or calcium, because Open Fuel's position is that the research doesn't support adding them for performance or cramp prevention. Low sweetness, restrained flavours, no artificial colours or preservatives. Designed to be drinkable for hours without palate fatigue.
When to use it
- Long training rides, runs, and sessions over 90 minutes
- Race-day fuelling for cycling, triathlon, ultra-running, and long course events
- Hot-weather sessions where sodium loss is high
- Athletes who want one product instead of juggling gels, tabs, and drink mix
- Anyone training the gut to handle higher carb intakes
How to use it
Slowly pour the powder into water while swirling - don't let it collect on the surface or it clumps. Open Fuel's own guidance: half a bottle per hour at easy intensity, one bottle per hour at moderate, one and a half bottles per hour at threshold. Adjust water volume based on temperature and personal preference - more water in heat, less in cool conditions. One 67g serving delivers 60g of carbs, so you can build a full fuelling plan around it without adding gels.
Key features
- 60g carbohydrate per serving: High-dose fuelling in a single scoop.
- 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio: Dual-transporter blend for faster gastric emptying and higher absorption.
- 500mg sodium per serving: Meaningful electrolyte replacement, not a token amount.
- Low sweetness, restrained flavours: Drinkable hour after hour without going sickly.
- No artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives: Clean label, non-GMO ingredients.
- One product, full fuelling plan: No stacking, no sequencing, no mid-session juggling.
For use by adult athletes during sport and endurance activity. Not intended for children or sedentary individuals.
How this fits into your fueling plan
Most endurance athletes aim for 60–90g of carbs per hour, typically from 2–4 products. At 60g, this covers your hourly needs in one serving.
